The most complicated colorized image I’ve so far tried. I loved the image, but it was badly warped, so it took some doing. The little boy on the left was a bit of an Easter egg, I didn’t see him until I was about 20 minutes into building the animation. Maybe my favorite image to date…

I’ve always enjoyed seeing images of scenes now and then, and in fact hope to take a trip to Charleston before winter to do the same with some old Civil War images. Sergey Larenkov has used this technique and added a twist, creating ghost-like images by overlaying parts of old images over the new. The results are surreal and striking, I urge you to check out his blog here.
